The Director will oversee supply chain objectives/initiatives such as purchasing, freight, pricing analysis, contract, inventory and P&L management and reporting. Additionally, this role exists to support the organizations business development initiatives and objectives in relevant areas of supply chain management, vendor managed inventory (VMI), outsourcing and research for alternative or new sources of supply for the organization. Critical function is the development and implementation of strategic sourcing and supplier management processes as well as using technology to improve organizational efficiency. Good at inventory management and finding productivity opportunities. Understand the financial dimensions of operational decisions.







Position Accountabilities:



• Responsible for monthly monitoring, reporting and analyzing item sales by store as well as recommending items to delete or add by location.

• Develops and implements a supplier management system that recruits and maintains suppliers who provide high quality products and services at competitive prices while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Procures goods and services at the lowest cost consistent with the quality and services required, and maintains a consistent supply. Ensures uninterrupted flow of quality goods at the best negotiated prices through strategic use of block buys and supplier performance agreements. Develops measurement and communication systems to evaluate and manage performance of suppliers.

• Develops a process to obtain and evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery and service. Designs and documents specific Purchasing practices and procedures, internal controls & process improvements.

• Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, competitive price and acceptability based on a thorough knowledge of the company needs.

• Oversees the day to day operations of the Purchasing Department. Provide leadership, direction, management, and supervision to the staff including goal setting and evaluations

• Establishes and maintains administrative control over procurement expenditures. Ensures purchasing policies are communicated to staff..

• Oversees daily vendor purchasing of stocking and emergency (just in time) purchase orders and assists with daily purchasing as necessary.

• maximization Responsible for of supply chain performance metrics such as: in-stock fill rate, back order volume, inventory turns, vendor pricing changes, parts usage / GM analysis, inventory valuation changes, inventory aging statistics, vendor return P&L, purchase price variances and takes a proactive role to recommend process improvements.

• Responsible for the management of inventory obsolescence and processing functions

• Responsible for all vendor managed inventory / inventory outsourcing customer solutions, working closely with the management team including Distribution, Accounting & Operations.

• Partners with internal team members to develop processes and systems to manage supplier contracts and order claims for nonconformance based on company policies.

• Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, competitive price and acceptability based on a thorough knowledge of the company needs.

• Establishes key internal metrics and reporting systems in all aspects of the supply chain process.

• Works with IT partners to insure technological solutions are applied to supply chain management initiatives.

Skills:

• Bachelors Degree: Finance, Business Administration or related field.

• Seven to ten years experience in supply chain, materials and logistics management. Emphasis on retail, grocery/food and beverage required.

• Superior organizational and project management skills; creative & analytical with good management skills, & discipline to document and administer detail oriented agreements.

• Must have a strong record of supplier management; overseas supply experience a plus.

• Experience with generally accepted accounting practices, strategic and tactical planning and budgeting.

• Above average skills in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint and intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel skills.

• Leadership experience in negotiations strategy and oversight of Procurement programs for a wide variety of items and services. Demonstrated analytical skills including the ability to present a business case to drive process improvement. Proven ability to influence and enhance processes across business lines.

• Experience utilizing best practices to lead and manage major corporate cost reduction initiatives and process improvement programs.

• Proven experience in a global purchasing organization, with solid knowledge of global sourcing and a strong track record of delivering results to the bottom line and bringing about improvements.

• Superior organizational and project management skills; creative & analytical with good management skills, & discipline to document and administer detail oriented agreements.

• Advanced knowledge of Contracts, Procurement and Vendor Management best practices.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Deep industry expertise and experience in grocery retail/wholesale business, and significant functional experience in supply chain management.
